Tesla FSD 12.4.1 releases today to Tesla employees. Elon Musk says if that goes well, then it will be released to a limited number of external customers this weekend.
There are a massive number of changes to this build. It should arguably be called v13, but we’re sticking to 12 😂
Two other versions are in earlier stages of testing: 12.5 and 12.6, which could be called v14 and v15. We are starting to get to the point where, once known bugs are fixed, it will take over a year of driving to get even one intervention.
Elon says that after the known FSD problems are fixed in these versions then the miles per intervention will increase to 15,000 to 20,000 miles. This would be one intervention for one year of driving which will match Waymo at 17000 miles per intervention.
However, Tesla FSD will operate anywhere in the world on any roads while Waymo only operates in some geofenced areas in about four cities with hyperaccurate mapping.

TSLA progress on FSD is commendable but if you still have to keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road it is not FSD.
Solving FSD is awesome!!!!
BUT there WILL be accidents and deaths… WHO will be held responsible and who will pay?!
With FSD there will be far fewer accidents and deaths, but this means those that do occur will do so in the most litigious society in human history… the responsible party will need VERY DEEP pockets to pay.
Solving self-driving means no intervention in a billion mile, not 15000 or 20000 miles.
Musk, no one believe you, you cried wolf too much. Just release new versions, and if it’s really good, let your fanboys tout it.
That said I truly hope we are finally getting true FSD. I’d love to be able to sleep or be on my phone, without having to look at the road in front of me.
Murc .. As a Tesla investor unfortunately I agree
Musk claims on FSD for SO many years proved to be way too optimistic as such yes he DID cry wolf too many times as such he lost a very valuable thing .. TRUST .. he is no longer believed and he should not be you can`t be wrong that many times its show not tell time.
