Investors close to Elon Musk are in talks to help xAI raise $3 billion in a round that would value the artificial-intelligence startup at $18 billion.
The venture-capital firm Gigafund and Steve Jurvetson, a prominent Musk backer and co-founder of another venture firm, are among the backers considering investing in the round, the people said.
X (twitter) has a 25% ownership stake of XAI.
Musk has a 13% ownership stake in Tesla and a 79% stake in Twitter.
Musk owns 42% of SpaceX.
Elon has a majority ownership of xAI but at an unreported amount.
xAI is releasing Grok 1.5 which is close to the capabilities of GPT4. xAI is training Grok 2 which reportedly is better than GPT4 and Claude 3.
If xAI catches up to OpenAI valuation then it would be over $80 billion in value.

Where does xAi get their computing power today? They are looking for funding, ie they do not have the money yet. So on what did they train Grok 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0? With what money?
I am not 100% sure, but i think they trained it using Oracle supercomputer
