Tesla Shanghai Has 95% Automation and Higher Density Operations

Reporters visited Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory and provided the following information.

• Giga Shanghai is in full operation.
• Save 100 meters of production line through the use of vertical lifts.
• Four workshops are connected and manufactured parts can be transferred within the workshop.
• Fully automated production has been achieved by 95%, and the automation rate of welding workshops is around 100%.

• Tesla is very confident in the Chinese market.

Tesla is reported to having a car come out of the Shanghai factory every 30 seconds. Two years ago this was a car every 45 seconds and one year ago it was a car every 40 seconds.

A sustained rate of a car every 30 seconds would mean about 30% high rate of production. This could be an increase of 350,000 in vehicle capacity in a year. Tesla Shanghai has had months over 90,000 cars produced. This is about 1.1 million cars. 350,000 more car capacity would mean 1.4 to 1.5 million cars per year can be made in Shanghai. This would also be an improvement that can be applied to Fremont, Texas and Berlin. The Texas and Berlin are below their capacity. Eventually, Tesla will ramp Texas and Berlin to higher capacity.

  1. This is pretty cool information. I sometimes take for granted the amount of growth and incredible engineering that has taken place at Tesla in just the last eight years alone. Mind-boggling.

  2. After Germany lost ww1 the country was in a bad state. People were dissatisfied. Hitler was promising to make Germany great again, like some sort of messiah. We know how that ended.
    He just took advantage of people and their misery with false promises. Hindenburg was an old president and Hitler manipulated his was to power.

    He used all kinds of tricks and manipulations. He blamed “rich corrupt Jews”, said he would “purify” the country,… Jews were blamed for ww1 defeat, like there was some deep state conspiracy,….

    When I see charismatic psychopath, which is corrupt and manipulates masses I see red flag.

  3. Why not invest that capability in the USA? Unless Elon is getting something from China he doesn’t want to admit? He might be… Do I know that? No,, not specifically. Is it probable? Oh hell, yes. Why is he making so much money with fanciest dictatorships when he could just be a nice guy, and still be VERY rich, and deal with the USA? Perhaps

    Elon has gotten a better “deal” with the Russian’s and the Chinese? It’s not the people in any other country I worry about, (except my own, I worry about us a hell of a lot more then what most even notice) I’m not making this up. Is that good enough for for me to comment, or good enough for you to care? I don’t know. But, I will try. Always. Please do your best to do the same. .

  4. Perhaps Chinese sales may save him, as second quarter sales of Teslas are down 24% in California, his most important market, for the third consecutive quarter. It seems the “owner” of an EV manufacturer is giving millions to a presidential candidate who wants to end the “EV mandate” (see latest tirade) and he’s doing his very best at all times to totally alienate EV buyers. He’s a real brainy guy, that Elon, tanking a market that is 10% of all total global deliveries. A bizarre world we’re currently living in.

    • You make good points. My wish is he would be like other CEOs and just give his money to his preferred candidates in a low-key manner. You know, like David Katzenberg and all of Hollywood.

      But President Biden, Senator Warren, Alameda County Democrats (Freemont factory) and the Democrat Chancery Judge in Delaware all declared him, Tesla, and his non-union factories to be enemies. They went after him hard and very publicly. Why? He had supported Democrats up until then. He said he didn’t want to leave California.

      Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your view) Musk has GFY money. And if you go after him, he’s going to come back after you 3X as hard. Bill Gates, Reid Hoffman, President Biden, and a few others have really angered him. I still don’t understand what they had to gain by attacking him.

      • Pardon me, but I think you understand only a POV you are comfortable with. I’m actually a very conservative man. No, really. In some areas, I’m also quite liberal. When it comes to the civil right’s, I believe in every breathing person. and freedom of the individual, be they man or women, any person, any color, any faith (or not). I will protect them. And I will protect my country, when it comes to national security. Oh, I can be most fierce. Really.

        Lets look at what’s going on in the world. Take a deep breath, don’t be afraid of what you deal with brother. What scars me most, is when people don’t ask questions. When children in public schools are forced to learn the bible as fact? I believe in freedom of religion. I don’t believe that CAN happen, unless government observes strict freedom FROM religion. I find it amazing so many right wingers want to tell people how to think. They hate our government as a concept so much. As long as people buy their BS, they love it. Odd, don’t you think?
